Vad är överhus och underhus?
Ett överhus är den första kammaren i en lagstiftande församling som tillämpar ett tvåkammarsystem. Den första kammaren åtföljs av en andra kammare, vilken även kan benämnas underhus. Vid sidan av överhus eller första kammare är även senat en vanlig benämning. Överhuset delar den lagstiftande makten med underhuset.

Hur fungerar ett tvåkammarsystem?
Tvåkammarsystem eller bikameralism är ett system med ett parlament som består av två var för sig beslutande församlingar (så kallade kammare). Ledamöterna sammanträder var för sig i ett överhus och ett underhus.
Vad gör överhuset?
