Why are Panic at the disco and Fall Out Boy emo bands?
Why are Panic! At the Disco and Fall Out Boy considered emo bands? Simply because they are emotional bands. Having listened a faaaair bit to both bands, up until a certain point Save Rock And Roll for Fall Out Boy and Death Of a Bachelor for Panic!, all of their songs touched upon deep subjects which come across lyrically and in their tone.
Are Fall Out Boy and panic Out Boy similar bands?
Fall Out Boy has went from a sort of pop punk/punk rock and getting closer to pop with each album. Panic! had a very close connection to Fall Out Boy (FOB bassist was the manager) which probably led them to be inspired by FOB at times. However, they don’t sound exactly the same if you take the time to listen to them.

P!ATD has switched up genres every album, they’ve been through pop punk, a sort of folk-ish album, more to the pop side, etc. especially since members come and go, bringing in different types of influence and such. Why did Fall Out Boy sign to panic?
Another example of a band that sounds like the earlier albums of Fall Out Boy and Panic! is All Time Low, and even they’ve shifted to a pop sound in their newest album Last Young Regenade and their new singles. In short, bands want to stay relevant so they’ve moved to a pop sound, and Fall Out Boy is Panic!’s inspiration and they signed Panic!.
