Vad innehåller shellack?
Schellack (även stavat shellack) är en av flera förädlingsprodukter av ett harts som bildas då sköldlöss suger sav från olika ostindiska, mjölksaftförande träd. Råvaran kallas ibland gummilacka, vilket också är ett av de många namn som används för det röda färgämne som utvinns ur hartset.
Måste all lack bort?
Det vanligaste felet när du sipar golv Det gör att arbetet tar längre tid och är enormt dyrt för du använder onödigt många slippapper. Det grövsta slippapperet är det effektivaste och det ska därför användas för att slipa rent och få en plan yta. All lack, alla skador och jack ska bort.

- Med en kniv skär du ut en fanérbit som knappt täcker det skadade området på din möbel.
- Placera fanérbiten på möbeln och markera ut konturerna med en penna.
- Använd kniven för att skära bort den gamla, skadade fanéren längs den markerade linjen.

Kan man måla på Shellack?
Att använda Shellack, eller kvistlack, är väldigt viktigt för goda resultat när man målar på nytt trä. Shellack är en tunnflytande lösning som är spritbaserad.
Can You shellac over latex paint?
Shellac can actually function as an excellent primer for latex-based paints. It smooths out the surface of the wood and helps to fill in any naturally occurring knots or pinholes. Does shellac need to be dewaxed?
The shellac does not have to be dewaxed if you plan to use oil-based paint. It does have to be dewaxed if you plan to use waterborne paint. Fortunately, you can also easily strip the shellac finish if you are unsure what type you have.
Do not Poly after shellac?
If you wax your hardwood floors, sand, and add a coat of poly, the poly will peel right off. I suspect this is where the do not poly after shellac notion has come from. If the shellac is cut with enough wax, the poly will not bond to it. When refinishing floors, cannot splice or fan a finish in if the customer has been waxing their floors.
How can you tell if shellac has gone bad?
That was done in the 70’s when the shellac was already about 70years old. You can still see in the white paint the alligatoring of the shellac underneath and there are plenty of spots with pealing and also some bubbling here and there.
