Atombomben med kodnamn Little boy exploderade över den japanska hamnstaden Hiroshima på morgonen den 6 augusti 1945. Tre dagar senare släpptes ännu en bomb, Fat man, över Nagasaki. De fälldes av USA och är de hittills enda kärnvapen som använts i krig. Resultatet var förödande.
