När levde Lamarck?
Chevalier de Lamarck, som egentligen hette Jean Baptiste Pierre Antoine de Monet, levde 1744-1828. Han var son till en fattig greve från landskapet Picardie. Efter att ha deltagit i 7-åriga kriget levde Lamarck fattig som författare i Paris. Han lärde sig själv samtidigt mycket om naturen.
Vad trodde Lamarck att arterna utvecklades?
Det var nu Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck återlanserades. Hans idé var ju att individerna styr evolutionen genom att ändra beteende, vilket i sin tur åstadkommer ärftliga förändringar i kroppskonstitutionen. Det levande, människan inkluderat, skapar i någon mening sin egen utveckling.
