Hur fungerar Mesalazin?

Vad produkten är och vad den används för Asacol innehåller den aktiva substansen mesalazin. Det är ett antiinflammatoriskt läkemedel för behandling av ulcerös kolit. Ulcerös kolit är en sjukdom där slemhinnan i tjocktarmen (kolon) eller ändtarmen (rektum) blir inflammerad (röd och svullen).

Vad är 5 ASA preparat?

5-ASA, dvs. mesalazin (Pentasa®, Asacol®) har en inflammationsdämpande effekt. Läkemedlet används ofta som basmedicin för att förhindra att inflammationen förvärras (s.k. exacerbationsskov). Utöver tabletter kan 5-ASA doseras lokalt i vätskeform eller som suppositorier.

When can I stop taking mesalamine?

Continue to take mesalamine until you finish your prescription, even if you feel better at the beginning of your treatment. Do not stop taking mesalamine without talking to your doctor. This medication may be prescribed for other uses. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
