Vad är index SPSS?
Om variablerna i indexet har olika många värden kommer de att väga olika mycket i indexet – om till exempel tre variabler går mellan 0 och 5 och en variabel går mellan 0 och 100 kommer det att för indexet betyda mycket mer vad man har för värde på variabeln som går mellan 0 och 100, vilket man oftast inte vill.
Hur använder man index?
När man räknar med index beskriver man en värdeutveckling i förhållande till en specifik startpunkt, ofta kallad basår. Om vi exempelvis vet att en godispåse kostade 4 kronor år 1990, 5 kronor år 1991, och 6 kronor år 1992, då kan vi beskriva prisförändringen med hjälp av index.
