Vart är Samosa ifrån?
Samosa är friterade piroger som fylls med en kryddig blandning. De blir till frasiga och smakrika små degknyten. Samosas görs i bland annat Indien, många delar av Afrika och Mellanöstern. Where does the word samosa come from?
The English word samosa derives from Hindi word ’ samosa ’ ( Hindi: समोसा ), traceable to the Middle Persian word sanbosag ( Persian: سنبوسگ ), and has the meaning of the ”triangular pastry”. Similar pastries are referred to as sambusak in the Arabic-speaking world, Medieval Arabic recipe books sometimes spell it sambusaj.

Samosas are popular in the United Kingdom, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania, and are also growing in popularity in Canada, and the United States. They may be called samboosa or sambusac, but in South Africa, they are often called samoosa.
