Vad heter trollkarlen i sagan om ringen?
Frodo blir vald att vara ringbärare och åtta följeslagare utses att resa med honom : Människorna Aragorn och Boromir, skogsalven Legolas, trollkarlen Gandalf, dvärgen Gimli och hoberna Sam, Pippin och Merry. Dessa nio vandrare (kallad Ringens Brödraskap) beger sig ut för att representera alla de fria folken i Midgård.
Hur gammal är Gandalf i Hobbit?
Han nämns även i flera andra av Tolkiens verk, däribland Silmarillion. Gandalf är en trollkarl (Istari), egentligen en maia, som skickades till Midgård ett årtusende in i tredje åldern för att hjälpa Midgårds invånare att störta Sauron.
Who are the Maiar?
The Maiar (the singular of which is Maia) were near-primordial spirits that descended into Arda to help the Valar first shape the World. They were supposed to be numerous, yet not many were named.
Can the Maiar change their form?
Maiar, like Valar, do not array themselves in a fixed form, but can freely change their form. Olórin, or Gandalf, walked among the several peoples of Middle-earth in an uncertain form for many years before being sent on the errand of the Valar as one of the Istari.
What powers do the Maiar have?
Presumably, the Maiar possessed the ability to perform Magic, thus performing blessings, spells, curses, exorcism, etc. Given the vastness of the universe and the ability of the Maiar to occupy such points, they are capable of teleporting vast distances.
What happens to Maia when they are destroyed?
From all indications, when the physical body of a Maia is destroyed, their spirit wanders houseless and their power diminished until they may take a physical form once more, or are restored by their respective Valar.
