När rids Galopphästar in?
Det engelska fullblodet utvecklas mycket snabbt jämfört med andra raser och kan därför börja ridas in redan när det är ett och ett halvt år gammalt. Ett engelskt fullblod får börja tävla på sommaren som tvååring, men då bara i särskilda löp för tvååringar där distanserna är kortare än för de äldre hästarna.

Hästarna tävlar i regel tills de är 5-7 år gamla, men det finns även galopphästar som tävlar upp till 10-12 år. Antalet hästar i träning i Sverige är cirka 1400 och ett 60-tal av dem är arabiska fullblod. Efter avslutad karriär på galoppbanan går hästarna vidare till avel eller skolas om till ridhästar.
